meet me halfway | recent beauty purchases

Monday 20 January 2014

Apologies for the slightly fuzzy photo quality today.. I tragically lost my phone on a night out Friday and haven't managed to get it back since then :'( Thus I took desperate measures and took this measly photo with my laptop camera, pitiful. Today I'm showing you all my recent beauty purchases, after I decided enough was enough with my stubborn rotation of products I always use.

UNE 100% Mineral Foundation in M06
I bought this on Fragrance Direct for a teeny price of £2.99. Recently I've wanted a more everyday foundation for when I'm only in uni a few hours and want to brighten my skin a little, yet I didn't want to pay more than a tenner for something I wasn't sure would make the cut. It certainly stays put all day, and looks even better with primer beforehand, however I'm not completely convinced this shade suits me. If I use a little too much of this powder my cheeks can look a little orange which I'm not too comfortable with. Hopefully once I get the hang of using mineral foundation this will look natural and a little more effortless than using liquid foundation all the time.

Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara
I bought this today after a browse in my local Boots and found they were selling all Seventeen mascaras at £4, and I'd wanted to try this one out for a while! Upon first impressions this mascara is great for creating a fluttery effect without clumping or looking too spidery. It's also lovely at accentuating lower lashes with the grippy spoon-shaped brush.

Bourjois Liner Pinceau 16h
Another Boots purchase, I'm aiming to widen my liquid eyeliner collection as I'm growing to love my eyes with a slick of jet black for nights out. I find it makes my eyes look bright and stand out. I've yet to find out if this eyeliner will stay put for 16 hours, as my normal eyeliner, Natural Collection's bargain offering is brilliant at not budging or smudging all day.

Seventeen Phwoarr Paint in Fair
I'm really beginning to love Seventeen's make-up range; their host of new products really do what they say on the tin at affordable prices, what more could you ask! This under eye concealer has been raved about on various blogs, and I must say I agree. The consistency is thick but blendable - only a tiny bit is needed to dab on under the eyes, and it really helps to brighten my dark circles. I'm unsure about the lasting power of this one as I don't use this everyday, only when I look a little fatigued.

Garnier Moisture Match for Normal Skin
After loving the version made for dull skin, I wanted to try another one of their moisturisers from their range. The consistency of this one compared is a little thicker, and less mattifying than the dull skin version, and instead creates a more dewy look. I often decide between the two depending on how my skin looks in the morning - in other words if I look like a zombie I'll often reach for the orange packaged version over this one, and if I need a little less help I'll use this one to perk up my skin.

Bourjois Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix Foundation in Light Vanilla
Although I said I wanted to change up my make up routine, this foundation is a huge favourite of mine and I had no doubt in my mind that I would repurchase this for maybe the third time. I personally feel Bourjois offers the best quality foundation on the high street - brilliant lasting power, natural looking and they feel on my face like my own skin than another layer. This shade suits me perfectly, concealing my red cheeks whilst brightening my complexion all the while keeping my skin looking natural.

Calvin Klein Crème Lipstick in Delightful
Apologies for the lack of picture showing the shade of this, I attempted to take a picture with my crappy laptop camera and it simply looks like I'm wearing no lipstick at all, despite the fact that the colour is a gorgeous, barbie bright fuchsia. Since my love for bubblegum pink lipsticks has grown, I wanted to buy a more daring shade for nights out. I got this on Fragrance Direct for £1.99 if I remember right, as again I didn't want to splurge hard earned cash on a lipstick that would let me down, however this offering appears to last a long time, despite the consistency being quite creamy.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Luminous Cocoa
Another bargain buy from the wonderful Fragrance Direct. Again many apologies for no picture of this, but this lipstick is very sheer thus my dear readers may not even know I'm wearing lipstick! I'm undecided as to how much I like this, it's a shimmery nude that appears more like a gloss on the lips. I'm also quite put off by the pink plasticky packaging, it looks so cheap and tacky. For everyday use when I want to look a little more "done" I may probably reach for this, but I'm not usually one for lipglosses so I feel this may sit unused most of the time.

So that's a round of up of all my recent beauty purchases! Have you guys bagged yourself any bargains recently?
