Graduation Meal at Thaikhun, Southampton
So last week I graduated from the University of Southampton! Although it was miserable weather, raining almost all day (like always in Southampton), it was unforgettable, as I celebrated with friends, family and my boyfriend. After the ceremony, we headed to the WestQuay Watermark for a meal at one of my favourite restaurants, Thaikhun

Anyone who knows me well may probably be aware that I'm a huge fan of Thai cuisine; it's hands-down my favourite type of food! The meal was outstanding. Jack and my parents were in food heaven, and it took us ages to decide what to choose from the extensive menu. We got stuck in with some cocktails and starters. I'd had their amazing Coconut Mojito (below) before, so Jack and myself went straight for that! It's a creamy and refreshing drink, so it's subtle and not too rich!

Meanwhile, Mum went for a normal Mojito and Dad (the driver) tried the Mimic Mule which was a mocktail consisting of ginger beer, lime and mint.

I had a sip of all drinks and safe to say they were all delicious! The starters were generously portioned with a huge range of choice. Eventually, I chose juicy Chicken Satay, whilst my mum had tasty Pork Dumplings (below) which were served beautifully! Jack copied me and my dad went for the spicy Honey Pork. We all tried each others and the dishes were interesting, varied and most importantly, full of flavour.

It took us equally as long to decide what to order for our mains. I've had twice before the amazing Chicken Massaman Curry (I recommend it to everyone it's so so good), so Mum opted for that - and she was just as impressed! I tried the BBQ Pork and Rice which also came with Miso soup on the side. The pork belly was tender with  a zingy and crispy skin. I was so full after the starters but I tried my best to finish the meal. The food baby was real!

Jack went for the Spicy Seafood Noodles (below) which certainly had a kick to it (yeah we all tried each others mains too!), it would've been too spicy for me being honest. Jack was happy with it however! Finally, my dad tried the Chicken with Pepper and Garlic, served with jasmine rice and loaded with crispy onions. After his spicy starter this was a much milder complement to his meal!

I was feeling absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal, but we ate incredibly well. The staff were really friendly and attentive throughout, and the service was relatively speedy with enough of a gap between the starters and mains.

Overall, it made my graduation all the more special and I won't forget it. I know I'll be returning soon!

Thanks for reading! Have you been to Thaikhun yet? What are your favourite dishes?

This is a sponsored post. I recieved a gift card worth £50 off the meal. For more information, see my disclaimer.

  1. I haven't been to this restaurant but my boyfriend lives in Hampshire so I'm going to check it out next time I visit him!
