Cheese and wine fun at the International Cheese Awards press launch, London

There's nothing quite like a fabulous cheese and wine night to make us feel fancy, right? Even more so when the cheese on offer was from internationally recognised, high-quality and independent companies. On an otherwise average Tuesday evening, myself and Sophie (see her blog here!) popped down to Lumiere London in Southwark for the press launch of the International Cheese Awards, which will take place in Nantwich this summer.

It was quite simply the cheese-lovers dream. We walked into the beautiful venue, greeted with a glass of prosecco and we were left to explore the overwhelming amount of cheese on offer waiting to be sampled.

My absolute favourite cheeses of the night had to be the White Stilton Mango and Ginger by Bradbury's and Wyke's Ivy Vintage Cheddar. They tasted divine - the White Stilton was sweet, crumbly and full of flavour, whilst the vintage cheddar was incredibly tangy and distinctive. There was also an unnamed brie on the first table that everyone was living for (it disappeared very quickly from the table lol).

Once everyone had a chance to settle into the event and mingle a bit, we were given a quick speech by the host about the wonderful world of cheese, what we could expect at the awards in summer and the importance of non-cheese experts in promoting this event. He essentially outlined the key reason they held a launch night for bloggers - to give cheese-lovers who don't work in the cheese trade, like myself, an insight into the growing array of independent options on offer!

It was lovely to be able to chat with the people behind the business in a bit more detail, to find out about their history and see the passion shine through for their trade. It was great to have time to also sit and take in the atmosphere, chatting with Sophie and doing something out of the ordinary for an evening (complete with a very instagrammable glass of bubbly and the mountains of cheese).

What's more, the cheese fun didn't end there. Oh no, the ICA knows how much bloggers like a goody bag and this one went above and beyond! We received none other than SEVEN different cheese products as well as a gorgeous jar of plum and apple chutney to take home with us. I was in shock to be honest, and I was incredibly excited to dive into the samples and try them all out!

Me and Sophie had the perfect Tuesday night gossiping over the best selection of cheese and wine possible, the venue was stunning and all in all, the event couldn't have been more well-organised!
